Cole Sillinger was born on May 16, 2003, in Columbus, Ohio, United States. He was raised in Saskatchewan, Canada. He is the third son of the former NHL player Mike Silinger and Karla. He has two older brothers, Owen Sillinger and Lukas Sillinger, who are also hockey player. He attended Penticton secondary for his college education.
Sillinger was selected 11th overall by the Medicine Hat Tigers of the Westwrn Hockey League in 2018. He was also selected 12th overall by the Blue Jackets in the 2021 NHL Entry Draft. He earned 2021 USHL Rookie of the Year by unanimous vote of League general managers.
He has been ranked as the 10th best North American skater by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau.
Sillinger scored his first NHL career hat-trick in March 2022, in a 6-4 victory against the Vegas Golden Knights.
He was resigned by the Blue Jackets on a two year deal on August 21, 2024, with $4.5 million contract extension.
