Ella Marija Nani Yelich-O’Connor popularly known as Lorde was born on November 7 1996, in Takapuna, Auckland, New Zealand. She grew up in neighbouring Devonport, New Zealand. She is of mixed ethnicity of Croatian and Irish descent. She has two sisters named Jerry and India, and also a brother named Angelo.
Lorde developed passion for music with inspoiration from the likes of Kanye West. Her career took off as far back as 2009, where she and her friend won school’s talent show, and was later invited to sing on a local radio show.
She signed a deal with Universal Music group and started to perform her own songs in 2011. She also teamed with the music producer Joel Little, where they came through with her first EP, The Love Club.
Lorde is a professional singer and songwriter who came to the limelight in 2013 with her debut studio album, Pure Heroine.
