Biography

Vance Joy was born James Gabriel Keogh on December 1, 1987, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia. His mother as a high school English teacher while his father worked in the computer trade. He attended St. Patrick’s Primary school, Murrumbeena, in Melbourne and graduated from St Kevin’s College. He obtained a Bachelor of arts and Bachelor of Laws from Monash University.

Vance Joy is a professional singer and songwriter who came to prominence for his 2013 hit single Riptide. Prior to being a musician, he was an Australian rules football player who played as a defender for the Coburg Football club in the Victorian football league.

He signed a five-album deal with Atlantic Records in 2013 and released his first EP “God Loves You When You Are Dancing”. He came through with his debut studio album “Dream Your Life Away” on September 5, 2014. He released his second and third studio album, “Nation of Two” and “In Our Own Sweet Time”, in 2918 and 2022 respectively.
